Community Engagement
Community engagement is at the core of ECETA's work. The organization builds community capacity for sustainable early childhood development through parental awareness programs, teacher training, and social interventions. It truly takes a village to raise a child, and collective responsibility is essential for fostering a nurturing environment. By empowering parents and educators, ECETA ensures that children have access to an enabling environment for holistic development, regardless of their vulnerability.
On 5th July 2025, ECETA hosted the 'Art of Parenting' program at Rastriya Nachghar for around 300 parents, focusing on 'Raising Mentally Strong Children'. Facilitated by Mr. Kamal Silwal, the session offered practical strategies for nurturing resilience and emotional intelligence. Parents are a child's very first teachers, making their emotional intelligence and supportive communication crucial for long-term success. The ECETA team also performed a short drama illustrating how quality time and active family involvement contribute to a child's academic success and emotional well-being.
On 4th June 2025, for World Environment Day, children from 22 schools gathered at Swayambhunath under the theme 'Beat the Plastic'. Activities included nature walks, creating eco-friendly mandalas, and learning to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Given the pressing reality of climate change, instilling eco-friendly habits in the next generation is more urgent than ever. Children also collected toys from home to donate to underprivileged children at Cerebral Palsy Nepal (SGCP), promoting early community service and compassion.
To appreciate educators, ECETA celebrated Teachers' Day on 10th July 2025 with around 50 teachers. The event honored Ms. Rieny Di Witt for her immense contributions to early childhood education and provided a platform to award certificates to dedicated teachers. Teachers form the backbone of the education system and require continuous motivation, appreciation, and upskilling to thrive. The event aimed to make teachers feel proud of their profession, concluding with fun activities and dinner at Siddhartha Cottage Restaurant.
On 8th September 2025, a large-scale Gen Z movement in Nepal tragically resulted in five minors losing their lives. In response, ECETA immediately launched a digital campaign raising its voice against the government, advocating for child rights and an end to violence, and firmly emphasizing that children should never be targets. Every child has a fundamental right to safety, and advocacy organizations play an indispensable role in holding authorities accountable during times of crisis.
